Southwark Grounds is being designed to support healthy, sustainable and connected lifestyles for residents today and for generations to come.

From walkable streets to green infrastructure, every element of the neighbourhood is shaped with long-term environmental and social impact in mind.

The precinct will prioritise active and public transport, with a street network and public spaces that encourage walking, cycling and easy access to trains and trams, supporting both wellbeing and low emissions living.

A 30% tree canopy target will help passively cool the streets, reduce urban heat island effects and enhance biodiversity.

More than 15% of the 8.4-hectare site will be dedicated to redeveloped open space, with plans underway to significantly extend and enhance the nearby River Torrens Linear Park Trail.

Southwark Grounds is targeting a 6 Star Green Star Communities rating from the Green Building Council of Australia, with all buildings required to demonstrate how they will achieve a minimum 5 Star Green Star Buildings rating.

Led by Renewal SA, this is a neighbourhood designed to contribute positively to the city, setting a new benchmark for sustainable urban development in South Australia.
