The next stage of Southwark Grounds is about to get underway, with major civil works commencing across the precinct from September.

Construction will occur in stages over a number of years as Southwark Grounds is delivered. Timeframes for individual works and precincts will vary. This page will be updated with the latest construction information as works progress.

Path restoration works to local streets will be delivered in stages and may occur at different times throughout the development. Interim surface treatments may be used during the construction phase and expected dates will be provided as they become available.

Temporary disruptions may be required to safely undertake construction activities, infrastructure upgrades and landscaping works. We aim to minimise impacts wherever possible and safety of our workers and the community is always our first priority.

Construction activity across Southwark Grounds requires the movement of contractors, equipment and materials through the access gates on Cawthorne Street and Walsh Street. Please take extra care on Cawthorne Street and Walsh Street due to the increase in construction vehicles and follow all traffic management signage.

Southwark Grounds contractors are required to comply with relevant environmental and safety requirements, including measures to minimise dust, noise and other construction impacts where reasonably practicable.

Surrounding properties will remain accessible throughout construction. If temporary access changes are required, affected residents and businesses will be notified in advance.

Temporary traffic changes may be required from time to time at Southwark Grounds. Relevant updates, including road closures and detours, will be communicated as works are scheduled.

The heritage-listed Walkerville Brewhouse Tower, transformer building and Colonel Light’s Cottage will be integrated into the Southwark Grounds development. Renewal SA, Heritage SA and the City of West Torrens are working together to ensure these buildings are protected during construction and carefully restored and showcased within Southwark Grounds, preserving and celebrating the site's rich history.

Yes, viewing panels have been installed at the northern end of Holland Street (opposite Bloom café) to provide an opportunity for the public to safely view construction activities.
