A NAME RESTORED, A FUTURE REIMAGINEDAs we look ahead to what Southwark Grounds will become, we're also looking back – with purpose. Southwark was first laid out in 1881 as the first organised expansion beyond the city's initial boundaries, and was home to Colonel Light's own cottage. Over time, the area became known as Thebarton. Now, following community consultation, the name Southwark returns to the map, reinstating a piece of our city's early story. |
